Natural cure for cluster headaches
Cluster headaches, one of the most feared headaches there are. If you never had them, or don’t know anyone that has them, it’s not that strange. Only 1 out of 1000 persons suffers from this condition. Because of the low number of patients, it isn’t a condition that is well researched and doctors and pharmacist haven’t found a cure yet. They will prescribe strong pain medication and it won’t always work as good as we would hope for. The last years they found that oxygen treatment is one of the best pain relief methods for cluster headaches, but not all doctors will prescribe it at the first signs of cluster headaches.
So is there something we can do ourselves? Is there a natural cure for cluster headaches? That’s a question that is difficult to answer. There are methods that seem to work for some people, but that won’t work for others. It’s really a trial and error path every patient needs to follow.
One of the first natural treatments I found for my husband is the ‘water treatment’ I talked about in one of my earlier posts. It just involves drinking water, nothing more. You will become best friends with your bathroom but that’s just a little complication if it helps reducing the pain and/or the number of attacks you will suffer.
Another natural treatment is taking magnesium supplements. Well, it’s not all ‘natural’, you will take these supplements as pills, but it’s nothing serious and you won’t need them to be prescribed. It is best to ask your doctor for a blood test so you can see if your magnesium levels are low and if this is the case, you can start taking these supplements. Also, try to include foods in your menu that are rich in magnesium. This will help in getting the magnesium you need.
A third method I heard about (didn’t get my husband to use it yet), is drinking energy drinks that have taurine in it. The taurine should help stop an attack if you drink it as soon as your attacks start. We haven’t used this method yet, so I can’t say if it has worked for us or not, but I did hear good results from people who have used it.
So, if you want to try a natural cure for cluster headaches you can try one of these.
